I would not be taking one until the last trimester. I think it is common to take milanta. I would take a gentle, natural one if natural food remedies havn’t worked (such as prunes and dried fruit)

I wouldn’t suggest taking any laxatives. Try some prunes, watermelon or honeydew! lots of it! wait 30 mins and it should make u go! hehe

I had very bad constipation with each pregnancy. After I developed bad hemorrhoids with the 2nd pregnancy, my Dr. finally told me that it was safe to take Sennakot OTC Natural Vegetable Laxatives. They worked great!!!! The use doesn’t lead to malnutrition for you or baby and they never caused any cramps.

I wouldnt..
avoid cheese and foods that constipate..
take some metamucil, eat more fruit.. drink water.
Try to lay on your side for abit instead of your back.. laying on your back puts more pressure on your intestines.

Constipation is very common during pregnancy, mainly because of the increased progesterone.
Don’t take anything when you’re pregnant unless you clear it with your doctor or midwife.
A stool softener would probably be better for you than a laxative, which may be too strong for you and stimulate the uterine muscles as well as the bowel – and this is something you MUST avoid. But your doctor or midwife is the best one to advise you on what to take.
Modifying your diet will be more effective in the long term than taking laxatives. Stay active and drink lots of water as well.
