I have suffered from constipation for 12 years due to medication. Over the years I have been eating right, lots of fiber and careful use of laxatives.
Over the past year I have been getting blockage and been to the ER twice. They just do enemas, so I have been doing them at home.
Now I can not even go unless I use one every two days or so. Otherwise I get blocked.
I know this must not be good, but don’t know what else to do. My mom had gastric-by-pass surgery and they told her she had a lot of extra small intestine, so wondering if maybe I have that also.
What if I just have too much colon? Is there a way to get just some of my colon removed to prevent blockage without having a stoma?
Obviously, I’m looking at something drastic. But would be nice to not look 7 months pregnant and be uncomfortably bloated all the time.

drastic would be getting a colostomy bag attached to your stomach-
they can remove some of your intestines–but don’t know if taht will help

Evidently you already know how bad this is for you. The fact about the gastric by-pass is that this is an elective surgery to help people lose weight. Sometimes people must have this done for reasons like ulcerated stomachs and gallbladders. I really hope that you aren’t doing this just to try to lose weight. Try drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day. This along with both taking a fiber supplement and a stool softener should help your intestinal tract wake back up. You have little finger like hairs that help the stools clean out the pouches and move the fecal matter out of the body. You can also eat whole wheat products like bread instead of white. Up you exercising, even if you walk go further every couple of days to keep your system moving. Try these suggestions, along with no sugar like foods and see if you don’t start to both get your intestines back to normal and lose weight too. You’ll not only feel better but look better too. Swimming season is here and this is great exercise and burns allot of calories along with a great cardiac work out. Good luck and God Bless

If part or all of your colon is taken out, you have a choice of caryring a bag around or wearing a diaper.
A lot of water will help.
A lot of vegetables and fruit.
anything with white flour and oil in it will clog you up.
100% wheat bread is better.
