Sitting in an upright position makes my pain even worse. I hardly have any bowl movements unless I use a laxative, and that does not help most of the time either. When I take a aspirin I have blood in my stool, and water. Laying down on my back does not help. I had a x-ray, and that was fine also. It started getting worse after my open heart surgery in 07. Laying flat on my abdomen helps for a few hours, it feels like something is pressing all around my abdomen. I am in my late 50′s, and I know it’s not hemorrhoids. It does not hurt when I press on my abdomen just when it swells. What kind of specialist do I see for that pain. I would also welcome any suggestions to my problem, and thanks for any advice. ( it feels like something is pressing against all sides of my abdomen) very painful it feels like my abdomen could explode. sorry for any errors on my typing and for all the punctuation marks.

Could be : Costochondritis =this can affect any part of your ribs
What causes costochondritis?
It is often difficult to indentify a single cause of costochondritis. This condition is thought to be bost commonly due to repetitive microtrauma, or overuse. This means that activities are causing repeated damage to the cartilage of the chest wall leading to inflammation. The most frequently affected age group is young adults between 20 and 40 years old. Costochondritis can also been found as an overuse injury in athletes, in particular this condition has been identified in competitive rowers.
What are the symptoms of costochondritis?
Most patients with costochondritis experience pain over the front of the upper chest (the area of the sternum). Because of serious conditions, most importantly conditions related to heart problems, costochondritis should only be diagnosed after excluding other more serious problems.
Costochondritis pain is usually worsened by activity or exercise. Often the pain is worsened when taking a deep breath. This stretches the inflamed cartilage and can cause significant pain. Touching the area involved by costochondritis can be extremely painful for the patient.

You would want to see a gastrologist They are doctors that deal with your intestines. How often does it swell? My stomach would swell EVERY time i ate, regardless of what i ate. They did tons of different tests. Here are a few things they thought might be wrong with me, I don’t know if it will pertain to you. Bacterial over growth in the intestines, gallbladder, gluten intolerance. Finally after a year of testing, (colonoscopy, ultrasound, upper GI, Lower GI, stool samples, etc) I think the doctor got sick of telling me there was nothing he could do, h told me I have irritable bowel and I got referred to an acupuncturist. Believe it or not, that is what has helped me, he gives me some herbs to drink daily and I go in for treatments every 6-8 weeks and my stomach only bloats periodically.
I would of NEVER believed it, but it really did work.
Good Luck, I hope you start feeling better.

laxitives decrease the absorbtion of aspirin so if you took the two together that might be the cause of the blood in your stool. instead of laxatives you could try something a little weaker, that is if you’re sure it’s a bowel thing. i would also stay away from aspirin for a while. if it weren’t for the swelling i would think it might be just real bad gas build up.but swelling isn’t normal.im not a doctor though. i’m sure your family doctor would be able to refer a specialist of some kind. there’s a specialist for everything.
